Daredevil 294 Review

Daredevil Issue 294 was released by Marvel Comics with a cover date of July 1991 with the title of "The Infernal Mysteries". Daredevil Issue 294 was written D.G. Chinchester, Penciled by Lee Weeks, Inked by Al Willamson, Max Scheele on colors, and lettered by Jack Morelli. This issue follows the end of Daredevil Issue 294.

Ninjas are as always a rather nasty piece of work and they are depicted rather to that extent, as the Hand are not playing around. If they have a chance to kill you, they will kill you. Slowly, painfully, in a miserable way, but chances are, if you have earned their interest and their blood lust, they will take you out rather handily and rather messily.

Daredevil seems to rather be the perfect foil for these people, a rather messy business, a rather brutal rival. This story really has some rather bleak and dark imagery. What you can imagine these ninjas doing, by what little bit is shown on panel just really just smack you right into the face in the rather sadistic nature of the ninjas.

Speaking of ninjas, there was a nice little side swipe towards the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but all in good fun I'd imagine. This was during the peak of the popularity of the first television show. Funnily if you know the story of the Turtles, how their first comic book issue was essentially envisioned as a parody of the Frank Miller Daredevil, which really just brings things full circle.

The final panel of Daredevil leaping into the air to engage the images was just the right way to end the issue. It makes you want to read more.

Overall Daredevil 294 was good for what it was. Give it a look should you have the opportunity and are a fan of the character.
