Hercules Prince of Power Volume 1 Issue
3 is the next comic book to be pulled right out of the Really Big
Comic Book Box of Doom for a Random Comic Book. The Prince of Power,
Hercules is hailed a hero, but one of the most mighty forces of the
universe is threatening to be a dark cloud of the Prince of Power's
victorious party.
Hercules Prince of Power Volume 1
Issue 3 Review
Hercules Prince of
Power Volume 1 Issue 3 was part of a limited series released by
Marvel Comic Books in November 1983, with the title "Who the God
Would Destroy." Hercules Prince of Power, Volume 1 Issue 3 was
written by Bob Layton, Penciled by Luke McDonnel, Lettered by Rick
Parker, Pencilled by Mark Gruenwald, and Colored by Bob Sharen.
Time to take
another look at Hercules, and I find it kind of intriguing that
Hercules is in space. But for some rather insane reason, it would
work far better than you would expect. To the point where it fits
about as well as a glove. Some things are rather amazing and that is
just one of those things.
Now as for the
action quality of the issue, fine, but perhaps not an element that
was utterly epic and the best put together of everything. Hercules
was spot on and fun, but it just seemed like a paint by numbers story
in space. Guy saves civilization, becomes a hero, let's drink, be
merry, pretty much everything that goes along with.
However, there is
the twist, oh boy is there is a twist and that really makes me want
to read the next issue, which is sadly not in the Box, or at least
that I can see. The devourer of worlds Galatus pops up and his watch
says its dinner time. So the planet that Hercules saved looks to be
next on the list of planets that he needs to devour.
I do find Galatus
to be a rather interesting character, not doing what does because he
wants to but because he kind of needs to survive.
Overall fine but
not spectacular with this effort from Marvel Comics.
