Avengers Code Red Review

Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes Episode 46 was titled Code Red. In this episode, strange fumes sicken the Avengers and the rest of the city, with Iron Man being the only one left to formulate a cure. This appears to be a sinister plot by the Secretary of Defense Dell Rusk but what is his agenda. Let us find out as we look at this latest episode from Marvel Animation.

Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes Episode 46 Code Red

This episode will have spoilers Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes Season 2 Episode 20 Code Red so be warned.

Episode Synopsis

Iron Man and Captain America are sparring, as Dell Rusk, the Secretary of Defense Dell Rusk is bashing them. Iron Man offers Captain America leadership of the team but before Captain America can give his answer either way, fumes are pumped right into the mansion. Iron Man is shielded but Captain America feels sickly.

The virus begins to affect the rest of the team, as Wasp and later Black Panther goes down. Dell Rusk sends his task force of Falcon, Doc Samson, and the Winter Soldier in to deal with the Avengers. Falcon fights Hawkeye, Doc Samson fights Ms. Marvel, and Winter Soldier managed to kidnap Captain America to take him to Dell Rusk. Also Thor tries to get rid of the fumes before it infects anyone else, but he runs into the Red Hulk. Iron Man works on an antidote, managing to cure the Avengers, but there is one man who is not cured, that being Captain America.

Iron Man has to deal with the order brought down by the Secretary of Defense to bring down the Avengers, but as Captain America is brought before Dell Rusk, Rusk says he has been waiting a long time for this. Iron Man tries to get Captain America the cure, but Winter Soldier catches it. Dell Rusk is unmasked to reveal Captain America's greatest enemy, Red Skull.

Red Skull prepares to finish off the sick Captain America once and for all but the Winter Soldier gives Captain America the antidote. Captain American and Red Skull duke it out, with Captain America getting the better of the fight.

Red Skull, Doc Samson, and Falcon are all taken in, with it being revealed that Doc Samson and Falcon are brainwashed. Captain America ponders the Winter Soldier.

Episode Review

This was a good one, and really a grisly fate with the virus. There were some times where this episde was a bit rush and when the virus was unleashed, then it really was a tell tale sign of who was behind this, even if you could not figure out that Dell Rusk was an anagram for Red Skull.

The battle between Captain America and Red Skull was decent but a bit short. I thought this would have been an awesome two part episode but as it stands, given the new all episodes must be stand alone ruling tossed down, it is just a pretty above average one part. Obviously in a way, the intrigue of the Winter Soldier is going to build into the next episode, but Red Skull got taken down too quickly.

Hawkeye does have a point. How does an ex-Hydra war criminal become Secretary of Defense. Seems like a bit of a security breach.

Captain America becoming the leader of the Avengers is a long time coming.

Final Rating and Thoughts

8/10, I think this episode was kind of rushed but good despite that fact. You can watch Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes Episode 46 Code Red some time soon on Disney XD legally among other places.
