New Titans Annual Volume 1 Issue 10 Review

New Titans Annual 1 Issue 10 was released in 1994 by DC Comics with the title "Facets" This New Titans annual was written by Marv Wolfman and Louise Simonson, Pencilled by Scott Lee, Inked by Martin Griffiths, Kevin Conrad, and Dan Davis, Colored by Mike Danza, and Lettered by Kevin Cunningham.

Hey boys and girls, it is time to dip right into trippy insanity land er I mean an Elseworlds Comics. This time featuring those beloved Teen Titans or the New Titans as they are preferred. Actually here is the thing about Elseworlds comics. They can be really good, really awful, or so insane that you don't know what you will believe. However, you cannot look away. DC Comics tends to be all over the board, with answering the question of what if?

We have Queen Raven, powerful dark witch, who has Victor Stone, or as you might better know him, Cyborg right at her mercy. Or lack there of. She transforms him right into a hero but enslaves him to her. Much like she has with Nightwing, Kid Flash, Changeling, Red Arrow, and I want to say Wonder Girl as well.

So yes, the alternate gimmick is our super heroes are put in a story of magic and intrigue. Oddly enough I could smell Trigon coming a mile away. I mean, whenever Raven suddenly goes are dark and dismal, chances are good old daddy, Trigon is behind all of the insanity.

Everyone despite being thrown in the insane setting was rather true to character. Some great moments between Nightwing and Starfire and she was rather well done. Not to mention the artwork was rather top of the line, top notch.

Of course, if you know the story with Trigon, you pretty much know where this is going. He pulled the puppet strips to get his daughter to send him to Earth. As a result, he is there, but he manages to be defeated. Then Raven is released from his control.

Standard Titans tale but hey, its in an Elseworlds story, so it is different enough to make it a rather enjoyable and thrilling read.

Maybe not the best comic but I would have to throw this effort from DC Comics into the entertaining enough to keep my attention category. All of the characters were written mostly true to character with the settings that were presented. A pretty good Elseworlds effort. I found this comic book to an engaging read. Most certainly I would recommend it be at least worth a look.
