In this episode, Iron Man runs afoul of the Master of Magnetism, Magneto, who is after a girl on the run who has mutant abilities. Iron Man Armored Adventures Episode 43 the X-Factor first aired on March 21st 2012 on the Nicktoons Network and is Season 2 Episode 17 of Iron Man Armored Adventures

So many references in this episode and it is glorious. Of you know you’re in for a fun time, when Magneto owns Iron Man right before the opening segment. I made the suggestion that he ought to build plastic armor right about two minutes before it was made, so nice to know that the obvious points are pointed out.

In this episode, there is a new student named Annie. It should be obvious to even the most rudimentary comic book nerds that this is merely an alias, with the red hair, powers of telepathy and telekinesis. And if you don’t get it based on those hints, please turn in your geek card. Although I shall be kind and reveal at the end.

Lots of references to the wider universe. The name Trask should be very familiar to X-Men fans. And we have every one’s favorite loud mouth mutant hating Senator, Robert Kelly, who tends to be so heavy handed about what he’d like to be done with mutants. Given that mutants can often be used as a metaphor for homosexuals or blacks, depending on the time where it is written, see what registering people in those groups from birth gets you.

Magneto is awesome in this episode and eerie as well. With the mastery of magnetism, technically speaking Magneto should be able to cause some horrific havoc, when you think about how many things are made of metal. A bit of a different look and we didn’t see Magneto’s face until the end. Of course the old, “take off the helmet that repels psychic attacks” thing might seem a bit long in the tooth, it is how they got there that mattered.

And a reference to Weapon X. I figure we’d see him showing up in some form or fashion. It wouldn’t be a Marvel Cartoon without him after all.

Magneto is beaten, with some effort. Robert Kelly is revealed to be the self righteous prick that he often is, when he condemns a teenage girl that saved his life. Then again, he’s not much worse than many politicians in real life, but…yeah I’m just going to move swiftly along. And Iron Man’s Extremis upgrade came into play.

And for those of you who don’t know, Annie is of course Jean Grey. Nice to see Professor Xavier show up at the end. Given how they hinted at it, he better had.

Overall, this might have been one of my favorite episodes, so 9.5/10. You can watch Iron Man Armored Adventures Episode 43 the X-Factor on the on demand section of the Nicktoons Network Website.
