The anticipation is high, May 4th 2012 is the day. Finally, after a long wait, the Avengers hits the theaters on May 4th 2012. That's right, the long awaited movie, bringing together the events set up in big movies in the Marvel Movie Universe will occur on that day. The Avengers will hit a theater near you on that day, in May.
The Avengers Film Hits the Theaters on May 4th 2012
Since the stage was set first with the Hulk and Iron Man movies. Then the second Iron Man movie, then Thor and Captain America. Finally the team is getting together, with the Avengers in theaters. This is one movie that hardcore Marvel Comics zombies and casual Marvel fans have been waiting for for sometime.
I think that while we all anticipate this movie, we do hope that the Avengers leads up to the hype. Super hero movies in general have had great expectations and in many cases, have really failed to really meet them. It really has a chance to set the tone for a big summer of comic book movies, with Amazing Spider-Man and the Dark Knight Rising being ready for later this year. And the Man of Steel movie much later as well is coming down the road.
The Avengers are coming off of the first season of the Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon and going into the second season. They also have four big hitters in there, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, and the Hulk, so they have all of the pieces right in place. The board is set, it will be go time right on that date, on May 4th 2012.
Doing a single hero movie is a different animal that doing a movie that focuses on multiple heroes. I would imagine that there might be a few fans who will be disappointed that their chosen hero did not get as big of a role as another hero in the movie. Still those superhero films will be big money, from Marvel Comics and obviously, this could be a rather big summer.
This movie has a chance to deliver the big box office, but will it deliver in the hearts of their fans? Only time will tell, true believers. Let us hope we have a nice and solid effort, with the Avengers hitting the theaters. Once again the day is May 4th 2012.
