Black Panther Volume 4 Issue 36 Review

It is now time for Random Comic Book Reviews. Let’s go right into the Big Comic Book Box of Doom™ for Black Panther Volume 4 Issue 36 from June 2008. Killmonger puts together a plot to take seize control and cause strife in Wakanda.

Black Panther Volume 4 Issue 36 June 2008

In this issue, Alan Davis was the Cover Artist, Reginald Hudlin, Penciler and Inker was Francis Portela, and Joe Quesada is the Editor in Chief.

We delve into the unknown as I am not the most well versed on Black Panther and his continuity. I do know of him naturally, through other comic books, but his solo comic book is something that I have not gotten into at any point in time. Although I did enjoy the nice little handy summary at the beginning that brought me up to speed. I give a point to any comic book that does that, because I subscribe to the Stan Lee Principle of every comic book is someone’s first.

The villain is a man by the name of Erik Killmonger, who is up to something, potentially with the help of the United States government, even if this is a suspicion, to seize control of Wakanda, but seizing control of the neighboring country of Niganda. As a result we have the events in this issue but who could really be behind this?

I did enjoy that the Mandarin, Doctor Doom, and the Leader being behind the technology of Killmonger. And the Leader being right and out dismissed because of the fact that he’s not that smart. If I know the Leader, he’s not going to take that blow rather well. Killmonger has inflamed the poor people, by tempting them with flat screen televisions and other luxuries.

Killmonger is obviously provoking a fight with the Black Panther, using mutated animals, with the old technology from a Fantastic Four villain known as the Red Ghost. At the end, we have a battle between the Black Panther and Killmonger being set up, before the three words to be continued are shown.

Advertisements of note is an advertisement for the Iron Man the Movie video game and the Hulk Movie from 2008. And then a sneak preview for Moon Knight and another advertisement for the Iron Man movie.
Well it won’t be something that I’d be going out of my way to get, but it wasn’t a bad issue. If you’re a Black Panther fan where you’ve followed his comic, chances are you would have enjoyed it more than me.
