Green Lantern Volume 2 Issue 158
It is now time to take a look at this issue of Green Lantern entitled “a Loop in Time”, was released by DC Comics in November 1982. This issue was written by Mike W. Barr, penciled by Keith Pollard, inked by Mike DeCarlo, colored by Anthony Tollin, Adam Kubert, and Ernie Colon was the editor.
First of all, let me just say that the cover really just jumped out and grabbed me by the throat. Which a good cover is often times what sells many comic book issues. It was true in 1982, in 1992, in 2002, in 2012, and it will be true in 2022, should comic books still be around in that form. Even if that cool visual is just like “what in the….” Man. It was a most interesting visuaul for this issue right before I even opened the comic book.
The rest of the issue, was one of those “good idea in practice, not so much in theory” things. I did get what they wanted to do but it really just seemed a bit absurd a lot of the time. The very idea that a mad scientist wanted to tap into the Green Lantern’s energy ring to bring back her dead lover, through at time warp.
It did have a bit of a happy ending, where Hal Jordan goes free and the lovers get reunited in a sense, well kind of bittersweet as well. Not one of my favorite issues, but I’m sure some people enjoyed it more than I would. Green Lantern as with all comics really has its shares of hits, missing, and totally just in the middle of the road.
