Black Panther Volume 4 Issue 8 Review

It is now time to go right into the Big Comic Book Box of Doom™ for another random comic book issue. Next on the pike is Black Panther Issue #8 Wild Kingdom Part 2: House of Pain from November 2005. In this comic book, The X-Men encounter Black Panther and old chemistry between the Black Panther and Storm flares up.

Black Panther Volume 4 Issue 8 Wild Kingdom: House of Paine Review November 2005.
This issue is the 8th issue of Volume 4 of the Black Panther Comic Books put out by Marvel, written by Reginald Hudlin, with David Yardlin on Pencils, Jay Leisten as the Inker, Dean White on Colors, VC’s Randy Gentile on Letters, Gary Frank as the Color Artists, Cory Sedlmeier as the Assistant Editor, Axel Alonso as the Editor, Joe Quesada is your Editor in Chief, and Dan Buckley is the Publisher.

The X-Men team in this issue are Wolverine, Storm, Havok, Polaris, Rogue, Iceman, and Gambit and they first think that the Black Panther has taken out a man, which the X-Men think that he has lost the plot. Well an obvious thing and despite Storm’s warnings, the X-Men don’t do so and we have a fight but the attacked individual named Erich Paine, is a mutant and he is up to something.

I thought the characterization and action in this comic book was rather fair for the most part, even if the X-Men are very much the guest stars. Black Panther is not too happy about not having any of the real X-Men(in his words) on the team, as in anyone rather useful and obviously the past is brought up. There were a lot of nice call backs, as you really would get a sense of how of the characters would get. And Wolverine and Black Panther accusing the other of smelling the passion they have on Storm is funny. And Storm returns to her roots when she was considered a goddess.

Paine however, his ability to absorb mutant powers makes him a rather prominent threat and he has the X-Men at his mercy at the end of this issue with Polaris strapped to the table, ready to use a chainsaw on her, where the story is said to be continued in X-Men #176. Naturally, naturally, we have to promote our other titles.

Some rather great video game advertisements, as you know your geek target audience well Marvel, with Ultimate Spider-Man, X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, and WWE Day of Reckoning 2 video games being advertised.

Overall a light read but a rather enjoyable one. Again Black Panther comic books would be better enjoyed by those who are more familiar with the character.
