Green Lantern the Animated Series Episode 8 Fear Itself Review
Green Lantern remains to be solid, but I’ve noticed a certain pattern with some of these episodes that may move to be trying. There always seems to be some issue on an alien planet where the people that we think are bad might actually be good or the people we think are the good guys, might actually be the bad ones.
With that single point out of the way, we had another interesting adventure in space. This has to do with the yellow energy source, which causes the Green Lantern power rings not to work. On the planet we visit during this episode, it is underneath a more concentrated form and makes those near it get paranoid and delusional.
Hence what happens to Kilowog and the warriors on this planet. They have weapons and headbands with the yellow energy, they use it for every part of their life, and it makes them a bit savage and war like when they charge right into battle.
Meanwhile Hal Jordan joins a group of, for lack of a better term, giant alien jellyfish which are painted as the villains, but really have no fear of the yellow energy. It doesn’t affect them which is rather nice.
This episode did feature a good fight scene between the under the influence of the yellow Kilowog and Hal Jordan. The subplot during this episode involving Razer was interesting. You would kind of have to be rather twisted to enjoy saying that Red Lantern Oath. Aya’s attempts to create a new oath based off of the rhythm rather interesting but at the same time futile, as it has to be that way.
Even if the plotlines of this show seem to be a bit of the same, I enjoyed it. 7/10 for this episode. If you missed this episode, you can watch Green Lantern the Animated Series Episode 8 Fear Itself on Sunday Morning at 10:00 AM Eastern Time or on Cartoon Network On Demand if you have it.
