Avengers Episode 1 Review

It is now time to look at the Avenger’s the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Episode 1 Iron Man is Born. This is a compilation of four micro episodes that aired online to preview the cartoon. The micro-episodes include Iron Man is Born, HYDRA Lives, Behold The Androids, and Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD. The complied Iron Man is Born Episode aired for the first time on October 24th 2010 on Disney XD.

Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Episode 1 Iron Man is Born

First of all, the first six episodes were based on twenty episodes that were about five minutes long, introducing each hero, before the big two part episode that aired first on television to get the team together.

Granted, it was all kinds of confusing for those who watched these episodes on television as the two part episode that formed the Avengers team aired before the six micro episodes that did. I only saw the six episodes as they were compiled. They technically were split up into the micro episodes which did work, kind of.

In this episode, we’re introduced to Tony Stark or Iron Man and introduced well. In a story that is very common, Tony Stark is not very trusting of SHIELD, and really given some of the things Nick Fury has pulled, who could really blame him. HYDRA, the evil terrorist organization who essentially replaced the Nazis in this continuity in World War II, were a major thorn in Iron Man’s side. And it is rather difficult to see who is more of a frustrating organization to deal with HYDRA or SHIELD.

There was some pretty good action in this episode, but it was very much of an introduction episode, telling you who these characters are, what their motivation is, and what to expect for them. So for casual viewers tuning in for the first time, a good thing. For life long comic book geeks like this reviewer…not so much. Then again, I wasn’t into the Avengers as much as Spider-Man or the X-Men, but Iron Man I was rather familiar with.

I’d like to tip my hat to the Grim Reaper, who is a rather menacing villain in this And Baron Strucker as well as he used Satan’s Claw, to drain the life force out of Nick Fury, well part of it.

Overall a rather passable set of episodes to kick things off with. When the show really got rolling, things got better but still 6/10. You can watch Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Episode 1 Iron Man is Born on Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Volume 1 DVD.
