Episode Summary
In Central Park, a mysterious man appears in the middle of Central Park, delusional and babbling about aliens. As Wasp talks to Ms. Marvel about her relationship problems, the man is brought to Avengers mansion, looking rather haggard and seeing his lover, Karina. Until things are settled, Korvac is taken in for observation.
The Guardians of the Galaxy, of Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Adam Warlock, Groot, and Quasar pop right in and go right after Korvac. At first it appears that they are the dangerous enemies, but they tell the Avengers that Korvac is not what appears, a dangerous threat that has wiped out many sentient lives right in the galaxy.
As it turns out, Korvac was experimented on by the Kree and he was twisted right into something crazed. as Ms. Marvel fights Korvac, they prepare to trap Korvac in Adam Warlock's soul stone but Korvac is not going down so easily, until Karina says she is scaring him, which causes Korvac to disappear.
The Avengers are warned that there are things out there that they are better off not knowing about and the Guardians of the Galaxy take their leave.
This episode was dedicated to the memory of Boyd Kirkland.
Episode Review
I thought this episode of the Avengers was kind of below par over this season so far. Korvac just seemed to be your generic evil foe driven mad by power. Even after the novelty of a raccoon with a British accent does not carry this episode.
Now with that being said, was this episode bad? Of course not. Even the lower episodes of the Avengers, the ones that are not the best, tend to be better than most. That just speaks volumes for this cartoon.
Captain America was off somewhere "looking up old World War II buddies." Or so that is said.
I'm not sure what this episode suffered from, trying to pack too much into a half of an hour or the really long commercial breaks that are throwing the moment of this show off. This Marvel Animated Block just pales in comparison to the DC Nation with the extra content that is being offered. Perhaps I'm not hip to the room but I would rather just see the extras be chopped out and just do a straight block in a half of an hour, with two cartoons and not the overly long short bits.
The Fury Files for instant don't tell me anything that I already don't know. And drawing and the "what will it take" bits are rather ponderous. And the Mash-Ups do draw a few chuckles but really it is just laziness.
Back to the episode at hand, some decent moments and it reminds us of the conflict to come, with the Kree being in some potential dubious genetic practices.
