Deathlok 6 Review

Deathlok Volume 1 Issue 6 is the latest comic book to be pulled out of the Really Big Comic Book Box of doom. In this issue, Michael Collins, better known as Deathlok, runs afoul of drug dealers, including Silvermane and his mob. Things get personal when his son is pulled right into the equation.

Deathlok Volume 1 Issue 6 Review

Deathlok Volume 1 Issue 6 was published by Marvel Comics with a cover date of December 1991, Part of the Similar Machines Story Arc, with the issue titled "Father's Anguish". This comic book was written and colored by Greg Wright, penciled by Denys Cowan, Inked by Mike Manley, and lettered by Ken Lopez.

Deathlok is a character that I don't really know much about but he seems about as compelling as many of the 1990s creations would be. Of course, it is all about extreme, bigger, badder, where the heroes are going to look a bit more deadly than the villains.

The mob, does not care if innocents get involved in their business. If there is a drug dealer on a playground, then they are rather getting gunned down, children or not. The brain behind the Deathlok cyborg is anguished when his son gets involved right in this entire mess, dealing drugs.

There is some rather biting commentary about how a broken family life can cause children, younger than ever before to turn to drugs. It is very much true back in 1991 and it is very much now. Vanished parents can really do a number on the psyche of children and as a result.

Silvermane as with most mobsters is a nasty piece of work. He doesn't care, he'll use people to achieve his ends. There is a pretty fluid fight scene between Silvermane and Deathlok

This comic book features the Punisher, who appears in only a small fraction of the comic book. There is a common tactic with comic books, whether it be Marvel or DC, to feature a a better known character to prop up that of a lesser known character. This is done to great use with Punisher, also feeding into the next issue, to make those who are buying wonder what will happen next.

My final verdict for this comic book is this. It is not something that I would recommend going out of my way and getting, unless you were a huge fan of Deathlok and wanted his entire run.
