Green Lantern the Animated Series Episode 11 Flight Club Review
There will be spoilers if you had not watched this episode of Green Lantern the Animated Series.
Episode Summary
A call from Appa Ali Apsa indicates that the big element that hinges upon the Red Lantern armada invasion of OA is being able to pass the gateway from the Forgotten Zone into Guardian Space. There is a zone of asteroids that is next to difficult to navigate, therefore a pass code will be needed to get from one area to the next.
As it turns out, a Green Lantern Archaeologist who was kept in the same prison from Episode 3 is the one that knows the code but he has long since passed on. He had passed the code onto a Thanagarian known as Byth Rok, who is in the prison, held in "the bird cage." Unfortunately, he is unable to tell them much of anything due to being a sticky situation. He barters his freedom on Kilowog and defeating a larger hawkman who has taken control.
Natually we find out that Byth Rok is a slippery devil that won't hold onto his end of the bargain and there is a good reason why he is in prison. Unfortunately for him, our heroes are bit more crafty, using the mind control devices in the prison to get the access code.
After offering them an alliance. Rok takes his fellow Thanagarian prisoners out the exit instead, but this was just another diversion to caused the Red Lantern armada to leave them along.
Episode Review
Oh look, another alien that is deceitful, haven't seen that like in most of the episodes of this series. Actually it is done very well, as we really know that Byth Rok is just one bad piece of news right from the beginning and it is obvious that he is not going to hold up any bargain is is made.
Hal Jordan is rather more deceitful than he lets on, something that Razer points out.
I do enjoy call backs from previous episodes with the prison. Just goes to show you that everything does come back around.
Obviously this episode was a bridge episode, where it gets us to the big events that most certainly appear to be coming up in the next couple of episodes. Really there is nothing wrong with that, nothing wrong with that at all.
There were few great scenes and that makes for a watchable episode.
