It is time to
reach into the really big comic book box of doom and pull out another
issue for a random comic book review. In this issue, we have Hercules
Prince of Power Volume 2 Issue 4. In this issue, Hercules must make a
choice, as his father, the almighty Zeus, approaches his time being
at an end as the kingpin of Mount Olympus.
Hercules Volume 2 Issue 4 Review
Hercules Volume 2
Issue 4 was part of a limited series, released by Marvel Comics with
a cover date of June 1984 with the title of "A Pearl of a Great
Price". In this issue, Bob Layton wrote, pencilled, and inked
this issue, this issue was colored by Christie Scheele, and Lettered
by Rick Parker.
Epic, just purely
epic, based off of one fight scene right in this comic book. And that
is Zeus throwing down and battling his son, Hercules. That to me
really did catch me off guard but the moment I gained my bearings, I
was intrigued and all kinds of interesting theories rather stirred in
the back of my mind about why this was happening.
The reason was
very simple, Zeus is reaching the end of his road as the ruler and
obviously that means that Hercules is the one to take him down, as
the ultimate test. Talk about a twisted test, having to essentially
put down your own father in combat. Yet this issue rather did not
really skimp out on the visuals and it was epic.
Naturally there
can be one result for this battle but Zeus proves why he is in fact,
the god as far as Mount Olympus is concerned and really just throws
down until the end. It is a good old fashioned family brawl and I'm
like, sweet and all of those things. Just a wonderfully crafted
little bit that dragged this issue of the Prince of Power to optimal
quality.
Overall I don't
want to say this issue is a must have, but I will say that I got a
level of enjoyment out of it that kept me entertained. So Hercules
Volume 2 Issue 4, it was rather an interesting little read to say the
very least.
