Hawkeye 3 Review

The next comic book to be pulled out of the really big comic book box of doom is Hawkeye Volume 1 Issue 3. Two super powered goons attempt to finish off Hawkeye and Mockingbird. They narrowly escape and all roads lead them right to Cross Industries, for the malicious plans of the company.

Hawkeye Issue 3 Review

Hawkeye Volume 1 Issue 3 was part of a four issue mini-series released by Marvel Comics in November 1983, with the title of "Beating the Odds". Hawkeye Issue 3 was written and pencilled by Mark Gruenwald, also penciled by Elliot Brown, Inked by Danny Bulnadi, Colored by Christie Scheele , and Lettered by Joe Rosen.

Immediately right out of the starting gate, Hawkeye 3 really does reach forward and grab the reader right by the throat. How do you ask? An attempted assassination attempt on Hawkeye and Mockingbird, when Bombshell and Oddball try to blow up Mockingbird's apartment. The key word is attempted, as the heroes manages to get out.

Still that point really makes the readers just sit up and pay all kinds of attempt right with this issue as it is. Mockingbird and Hawkeye see what they can salvage, taking what they can from Mockingbird's bank account and heading right onto the subway. Who should be riding on the subway was Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America. Talk about a random cameo.

That is really about all we see right from Captain America right in this issue but it was a cameo that was appreciated. Hawkeye and Mockingbird are in the subway, where Mockingbird was knocked out by Bombshell, who was disguised as a nun. Or not, as she was rather playing possum. So much greatness in this issue, villains disguised as nuns, must be the 1980s.

Oddball and Hawkeye gets involved and we have a fight, but our heroes get knocked out and they get carried off. That is where the issue ends.

In the end, another amazing issue, fun but dramatic really at the same time, really the perfect mix, with this comic book hitting all of the notes.

The intrigue continues to build as overall this was a really good issue of Hawkeye. Really enjoyed it, this series overall so fall is looking rather good.
