Invincible Iron Man 161 Review

Invincible Iron Man Issue 161 is the next comic book in the really random comic book box of doom. In this issue, Iron Man has to deal with the evil plans of A.I.M., without compromising any identity as Tony Stark. Meanwhile how does Moon Knight figure into this entire tangled web that we weave. Things should get interesting with this latest adventure with Iron Man.

Invincible Iron Man Issue 161 Review

This issue was released by Marvel Comics with a cover date of August 1982, titled If the Moonman Should Fail. Invincible Iron Man Issue 161 was written by Dennis O'Neill, Pencilled by Luke McDonnel, Inked by Mike Esposito and Steve Mitchell, Lettered by Rick Parker, and Colored by Bob Sharen.

This issue was really not that bad but not something that really engaged me either. It is a plot by Advanced Idea Mechanics or A.I.M. to get their hands on another project of Tony Stark's, for their own malicious scientific purposes. That is always all well and good and it leads to something interesting. We have a bunch of rich people, comparing their wealth but whether it be rich or poor, when lives are on the line, it is every person for themselves.

This has a very 1980s tone, where the pace moved a lot slower and while there are some dry spots, the issue did do a lot better for it and moved right in a certain tone. Iron Man was characterized well, as is Tony Stark, and things rather move right in a fascinating direction.

To me, the highlight of this issue was Moon Knight. He is always an intriguing character, for many reasons. There is just something about him and how he is characterized that really is beyond most other super heroes. Granted, in the hands of a capable writer he's good much like any other character but he seemed to be mostly okay in this issue.

In the end, this issue was not a bad read, but just one where I found myself skimming a few of the slower parts. Only if you have to complete your collection should I recommend it.
