Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne Review

It is time to take a look at Batman the Animated Series Episode 37 The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne. Hugo Strange stumbles upon a gold mine, when he discovers Batman’s secret identity, so he tries to auction off the information to some of Batman’s most deadly enemies. Batman the Animated Series Season 37 the Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne aired for the first time on October 29th 1992.

Batman the Animated Series Episode 37 The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne

In this episode, one of Bruce Wayne’s friends Judge Vargas, is being blackmailed by a mysterious force, for a tape. As Batman finds out, he goes right to a health resort, run by Hugo Strange, who through his mind reading machine, finds out that Batman and Bruce Wayne is one and the same. He decides to hold an auction with three of Batman’s most deadly enemies, Two Face, the Penguin, and the Joker.

I find this to be a rather good episode, not great but rather good. Much better than the previous episode that shall not be named. Hugo Strange is Batman’s oldest villain, even before the Joker, and obviously those who have played the recent Batman Arkham City game, will find themselves rather familiar with Strange. He used a health spa in this episode to blackmail Gotham’s richest out of their deepest secrets but he gets something worth more than he would imagine. So he calls an auction where the Joker, Penguin, and Two Face.

I do love the Joker’s answering machine in this episode. It is rather amusing, in a morbid sense.

There was some good interaction with the villains, as there are. Including this exchange between the Joker and Two Face.

Two Face: “GET OUT OF MY FACE CLOWN”
Joker: “Which one?”

The villains eventually managed to pool their money to get the tape, a tape that shows them Strange planning to plot to scam the villains. The tape has been switched and Strange has three very angry, murderous super villains. He tries to say that Batman is Bruce Wayne, but they aren’t buying it, especially Two Face, who obviously as Harvey Dent, was friends with Wayne, which is a nice touch. Batman saves the day from his grisly demise.

Strange tries to expose Batman but Bruce Wayne (really Dick Grayson in disguise), shows up. So Strange is pretty much thought to be a twisted lunatic. And there ends a pretty decent episode.

There were some fun things in this episode, some great moments, and a pretty good episode. 7.5/10 for Batman the Animated Series Episode 37 the Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne.
