X-Men Adventures Volume 1 Issue 2
Review
X-Men Adventures Volume 1 Issue 2 was released by Marvel Comics in December 1992, as written by Ralph Macchio, pencilled by Andrew Wildman, Inked by Robert Campanella, Colored by Keith Somers, and lettered by Michael Higgins. This is based off of X-Men the Animated Series Episode 2.
While it is not
quite like the episode, given that a few characters look slightly
different based on the artwork done, it is pretty much the basic plot
line for this episode. There were some great moments, although I
thought the death of Morph worked a lot better in the animated series
as opposed to this adaptation. That is a credit to the voice acting
as sure.
Oddly enough, the
way they did Storm's dialogue in this comic book, I can imagine her
voice actor doing that in that over the top, ham fisted fashion that
we all know and love. And the sentinels were menacing enough to work
on the pages. Some dialogue gets changed, not much but considering I
watched those first two X-Men episodes a lot.
We have Uatu the
Watcher show up, which is most certainly an addition. It is rather
the little things like that are different. With that in mind, I think
that this adaptation will be enjoyed as a nice quick read, if you
enjoyed this particular episode that it was based on. All of the
characters are rather spot on to the point where you can hear the
voice actors in your head as you read it.
So yeah, not a
comic book issue that you should run for cover from but also not one
that you could go out of your way to see.
