X-Men Adventures Volume 2 Issue 9 Review
X-Men Adventures Volume 2 Issue 9 was titled “the haunting” and released in October of 1994 by Marvel Comics, based off of the X-Men Animated Series on FOX that aired around the time. This comic book was written by Ralph Macchio, penciled by John Hebert, Inked by Greg Adams, lettered by Janice Chiang, and Colored by Joe Agostienlli.
During the 1990s, many super hero related cartoons had spin offs right based off of the cartoon that aired. And X-Men Adventures was one of the many, with the first few seasons being adapted scene by scene, word from word right into the comic book right before your eyes. Later on it spun right into brand new stories.
That was an interesting business model for sure, during comic book adaptions of a cartoon that already aired right on television around that time. And the episode that it was based on is a good one. Once I get around to reviewing the 1990s Marvel Cartoons(sometime before 2040 at the rate I’m going), I will go more into depth with this episode.
Essentially this is based off of Season 2 Episode 9 of the X-Men, entitled “A Rogue’s Tale” which as you might have guest is the origin of Rogue, how she got her powers and how she drained Ms. Marvel when Mystique told her not to let go. And how she met Professor Xavier, who had managed to keep Ms. Marvel’s powers subdued right in the back of her mind but since Xavier is stranded in the Savage Land with Magneto, those blocks are following.
I enjoyed the episode that this comic book is based on but I’ll be perfectly honest, if you’ve seen the episode, it is exactly like the cartoon. Whether to be laziness or a genius business move, you be the judge. Watch the cartoon or read the comic, there is no real reason to do both.
