X-Men Black Sun Issue 2

It is now time to reach right into the Random Comic Book Box of Doom™ and read the next comic book. This time we have X-Men Black Sun Issue 2, entitled Second Spell: Spear the Angel from November 2000. Belasco continues his ultimate plans to lead the N’Garai demons to conquer the world.

X-Men Black Sun Issue 2 Review

This comic book issue was released by Marvel Comics in November 2000. It was written by Chris Claremont, scripted by Len Wein, penciled by Thomas Derenick, Mark McKennana was the inker, Pop Visuals was on letters, Tom Smith did the coloring. This continues the five part Black Sun mini series to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the All New X-Men.

A lot was happening through this pretty fascinating issue of the X-Men. We get a sense of what the game is better, with the Bloodstones that Belasco is forging, based off of the souls of the X-Men is going to cause his path to be a bit more easier. Kitty Pryde is the first X-Men to suffer, where she cannot return to Earth, without her sold so Magik places her essence in the soul sword but there is a chance that she will be trapped forever.

As you might rather gather from the title, Archangel is the next mutant to have his soul be used for the sinister plan in this issue. A demon disguised as Storm goes right for Thunderbird, Psylocke, and Arachangel. The battle happens and there are some great fight scenes, some great visuals, and action that may keep yon on the edge of your seat.

Yet in the end, the fighting was all for nothing, as Archangel’s soul has been harvested and one of the five bloodstones have been forged. The battle has just begun and things have just gotten rather dire.

Overall this is not the deepest arc, but really just a nice light read. I’ll reserve making my final judgment until I read the last three issues on the stack. Most certainly as I’ve said, if you want to read them, then you would read them all together.
