Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Episode 12 Enter: The Fly Review.
Enter the Fly with a scene that would
be cut out should it have aired today. Our two villains, Shredder and
Baxter Stockman, worked at the World Trade Center Building. Their
objective was an experiment but the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
popped up and botched everything. Shredder and Baxter managed to get
away.
Shredder is incensed at Stockman's
bumbling. So much so he's desperate enough to ask for Bebop and
Rocksteady back. Desperate times often call for desperate measures.
Krang agreed to send the two goons back in exchange for a body to
make the transference stable. Stockman was elected and sent through
the portal.
Stockman pled for his life. Krang was
rather cold. Then he dragged off Stockman to his fate where he was to
be disintegrated alive. The TMNT was rather darker in the first
couple of season. Not as dark as the Mirage Comic books which
predated them, but it was still rather dark and grim. Stockman is
dragged off as Krang plotted his demise.
Before this sadistic action could
occur, a fly joined Stockman. As those who watched the Horror Movie
called the Fly know, this lead to a cross mutation of human and fly
DNA. Baxter Stockman assumed his more common form for this cartoon,
that of a giant mutant fly. He stormed out of the Technodrome and
returned to Earth. Brutal and disturbing scene there, as Stockman's
mutation was one of the more messed up fates in this show. Stockman
would continue to get it throughout the show.
April received a plant. She thought it
was for the Turtles. She's kind of trustworthy for a news reporter.
Splinter recognized the plant right away and threw it. Not before the
damage is done and April blacked out. She hovered a inch from death
from this Doku Plant. Splinter told the Turtles the only antidote can
be gathered from the Gazai Plan.
Coincidental enough, the only Gazai
Plan in the Western Hemisphere is in the city. Raphael was the one
that found the Plant Nusery, I found that rather amusing. Leonardo
made a cents joke and the Turtles encountered the fly. Which confused
them and who would not be confused in a fly attacked them.
Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady
continue their plants but encountered Baxter the Fly. Baxter attacked
them but Shredder managed to convince Stockman that they're on the
same side. Stockman's brain has already been burned to mush. Then
again he was an absent minded scientist a bit to begin with. By his
final appearance in Season Seven, he will have really went past the
point of no return with intelligence.
Stockman had one last invention, the
Knucklehead. It was the perfect weapon and also another toy for
Playmates to pawn on us. The Turtles battle Shredder, Bebop,
Rocksteady, and Stockman. In the battle, the Gazai Plant flew right
into the hands of Shredder. Later, Shredder challenged the Turtles to
a four on four fight. He claimed the fight will be fair, but everyone
who watched this knew this would not be on the level.
Nefarious plans are in the works. There
was a laser device that would zap the Turtles a half of second out of
time and render them out of sync. Bebop, Rocksteady, Shredder, and
Stockman do battle but Splinter showed up in the Turtle Van. He can
wield lasers and drive. A rat of many talents was Master Splinter.
Stockman got blasted right out of sync with the rest of time. The villains beat a hasty retreat. An intense ending to the episode and naturally, April is cured at the end. So all is well in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as the day is saved.
Enter the Fly merited a 8/10 rating.
This episode can be legally watched on the Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles Volume 2 DVD.
