Cable Issue 60 Review

It is now really time to really sit down and read Cable Issue 60. A mysterious enemy engaes Cable as he really tries to race against time, as his body appears to be at the crux of a virus that is causing him to be unable to properly use his mutant abilities. Let's reach into the Really Big Comic Book Box of Doom, because it is time to review another Random Comic Book

Cable Volume 1 Issue 60 Review

Cable Issue 60 was released by Marvel Comics with a cover date of November 1998 with the title "The Nemesis Contract Part 2: Atlas Burned". This issue was written by Joe Casey, Pencilled by Jose Laddron, Inked by Juan Vlasco, Colored by Gloria Vasquez, and Lettered by Richard Starkings.

The late 1990s were rather not a kind time to Marvel Comics, the speculators market of the 1990s nearly driving Marvel out of business at one point. Along with the near financial bankruptcy there was a creative bankruptcy in some instances, with the mighty Marvel writers struggling to get back on their feet, to engage people.

1998-1999 might have been the nexus of this creative draught. Cable which had somewhat of promise in the earlier part of the decade really had a massive hit of quality and really it was obvious that anything was being tried to right the ship.

This is a very dialogue light issue and this is obviously an event comic, right around the time where we are getting dangerously close to everything being an event. I will say that the artwork is rather appeasing to the eyes at some extent but there are just other times where it really does fall right off by the wayside.

The story is not much. Cable has a virus, his powers are failing, and we just go on with twenty some pages of nothing. I did mark out for the awesome WWF Summerslam 1998 poster with Stone Cold and the Undertaker being featured in this issue, but that's not going to save this issue.

I think this is one of the lowest comics I have had to review but it is more of a sign of the times of the comic book industry and Marvel at the time then anything else.
