It is now time to reach right into the
really big comic book box of doom and pull out another issue for a
random comic book review. In this issue, we have Cloak and Dagger
Volume 2 Issue 9. In this issue, Dagger tries to escape the life she
lived, but obviously it is going to be either said than done.
Cloak and Dagger Volume 2 Issue 9
Review
Cloak and Dagger
Volume 2 Issue 9 was released by Marvel Comics with a cover date of
November 1986 and was titled "The Lady and Unicorn." Cloak
and Dagger Volume 2 Issue 9 was written by Bill Mantlo, Penciled by
Arthur Adams, Inked by Terry Austin, Colored by Glynis Oliver, and
Lettered by Ken Bruzenak.
The mark of a good
comic book is taking characters that the reader may or may not know
of and if they know of them, they only know the most general basics
their backstory. Regardless a really good comic book tends to allow
the reader to remain interested, as the characters can be rather
compelling all of the way through, no matter what.
Cloak and Dagger
did this and did it rather well. Dagger wanted to go away, to do
something more, to be happy with her life, to not get trapped right
in the common endless cycle of misery and woe. Joining the circus
seemed to be the best idea. Naturally Cloak has a more realistic and
rather grim view on the situation.
This dynamic leads
to quite the great contrast of characters, which allowed me to move
through a lot of this issue, and enjoy pretty much every point of it.
Once again, making the reader care about characters I know of, that's
quite a feat.
It won't be a
stand out issue, but a rather solid one will have to do and really
not every issue needs to be a blow out event. Just one that is good
enough to make you care about the characters. Which I am happy to say
that Cloak and Dagger Issue 9 did for me.
