Hawkeye Issue 2 Review

Reaching into the Really Big Comic Book Box of Doom and pulling out an issue to review, we have Hawkeye Volume 1 Issue 2. Where Mockingbird reveals her backstory to Hawkeye and they have to deal with the evil plans of the Silencer, who is looking to take out Hawkeye. Part 2 of a 4 part mini series released by Marvel Comics.

Hawkeye Volume 1 Issue 2 Review

Hawkeye Volume 1 Issue 2 was released by Marvel Comics in October 1983 with the title of "Point Blank". The issue was written and penciled by Mark Gruenwald, Inked by Brett Bleeding, Colored by Bob Sharen, and Lettered by Joe Rosen.

Missed the first part of the mini series and it does not appear to really be right in the box. But the good news is that I have 3-4 and it appears that I can really jump in without too much confusion. So that is a real point for this comic book. Of course it is always recommended to read the entire series of books if one could manage it.

Hawkeye has always been an intriguing character, one of the best written ones in Marvel, when he is the hands of a good writer(then again most characters can be well written in the hands of a good writer). We really also get the first meeting between future married couple Hawkeye and Mockingbird, corner stones of a team that you might know from some past reviews of mine, the West Coast Avengers.

As always a good effort and the visual with Silencer with the weapon to the sleeping Hawkeye's head really was interesting, as was Hawkeye randomly waking up and reacting quickly. It is pretty much the mark of the good comic book.

Really enjoyed this issue, pretty sure I would have enjoyed the first part, looking forward to reviewing the third and the fourth part of Hawkeye in due time.
