Superman Hunter Prey Review

It is time to reach into the Really Big Comic Book Box of doom and pull out another comic book for a random review. The next comic book on tap is Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey Volume 1 Issue 3. The final battle between Superman and Doomsday, after the return of Superman from death, but Doomsday has evolved.

Superman/Doomsday Hunter/Prey Volume 1 Issue 3 Review

Superman/Doomsday Hunter/Prey Volume 1 Issue 3 was released by DC Comics in 1994, written and penciled by Dan Jurgens, Inked by Brett Breeding, Colored by Gregory Wright, and Lettered by Bill Oakley.

This is part of the direct sequel of Death of Superman, with Superman having long since coming back to life(with a mullet) and also Doomsday back to life. The Death of Superman, the Reign of the Superman, Funeral for a Friend, all really means that Superman is back. Of course, the real problem is so is Doomsday, who has evolved into something more powerful, as he has when he came back.

There was an alliance of sorts between Superman and Darkseid, granted, it is a rather loose one to say the very least. And Darkseid obviously has some kind of back up plan, even if he is rather willing to throw Superman right into the fray with Doomsday. And not to mention he has the consciousness of the Cyborg Superman just in case things rather go through.

The battle is joined between Superman and Doomsday and it is a rather epic one, one that is a nail biting epic between hero and villain. Even with the enhancements and help from Waverider, along with Mother Box, Doomsday is a tough foe, but the power of Superman is enough to put down Doomsday, until he comes back of course. He reunites with Lois and all is well in this issue.

So in the end, while this is a third part of a three part mini-series, I really did enjoy this, as it was a rather good follow up to the recent Superman stories and well written with a lot of good artwork.
