Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes Episode 36 Prisoner of War Review

There will be spoilers for Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes Season 3 Episode 10 Prisoner of War.

Episode Synopsis

A scientist from AIM is kidnapped, the latest victim of the Skrulls, as they continue their plans for Earth, by infiltrating pretty much every single organization. Yet two months after the fact, Steve Rogers, Captain America, who has been replaced is not broken, not busted. Despite the better attempts of the Skrulls. A plan to trick Captain America into thinking that the Avengers rescued him does not go as planned for the Skrulls.

Captain America manages to take the Skrull intergator, and track down another prisoner, Madam Viper. The reason for the Skrull invasion is a prophecy of where Galactus will destroy their world. Yet the best new world would be Earth. Which the infiltration continues, as every single organization on Earth has been infiltrated. Viper and Captain America break free the prisoners including Agent Quartermain of SHIELD, Mockingbird, Henry Gyrich, Cobra, and the Invisible Woman.

The Super Skrull is released, forcing an alliance between heroes and villains alike, all in the name of humanity to get back to Earth. Captain America saves Viper and she returns the favor, with the help of the Invisible Woman, but she says that she only saved Captain America, because she doesn't like being in the debt of her enemies. When the Skrull Invasion is dealt with, they are enemies once again which Captain America understands.

The Skrulls announces their failure, but they have actually succeeded, given that they now understand Captain America inspires people and the Skrull Captain America will lead humans into submitting themselves to submitting to the will of the Skrulls.

After all, who wouldn't trust Captain America?

Episode Review

This episode answered more than a few questions and we discovered a few characters had been Skrull swapped than we had already seen.

The reasoning that the Skrulls used to keep Captain America alive was something that I could buy. They wanted to learn more about humans and thus more importantly how to break said humans. Having an agent in every organization on earth gives them vital information that can be used.

I did like that AIM scientist just oh so casually stating that he once developed a device powerful enough to wipe out the Earth. That's rather charming.

The fight with the Super Skrull and the assembled rag tag group, that was interesting. It does go to show you that Captain America can really rally even the oddest groups.

Which unfortunately the Skrulls understand that as well. So they are going to utilize that fact, with their Skrull version of Captain America.
