Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Episode 10 Curse of the Evil Eye
This is the final part of the four part storyline that went from Episode 7 through Episode 10 of the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are in the prowl for the third fragment, but the Shredder and Baxter Stockman beat them to the punch. After some amusing misadventures involving Baxter and a fish, Shredder has the fragment and fuses all of them together, with Krang warning him about he doesn’t know exactly what they can do.
The battle between the Turtles and Shredder involving the eye was rather well done, although the way Shredder was defeated I had to shake my head. He just slips randomly, like a clumsy oaf. Then again, I suppose the writers couldn’t think of a better way to get the helmet off of him.
Blodgett the Channel Six Newsvan Driver was an interesting character and naturally he is the first character to come across the helmet after Shedder loses it. A one shot character in the realm of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but he lost his job once and likely would have lost it again if he kept crashing news vans. And Vernon Fenwick calling someone a coward was the high of comedy for various reasons.
Blodgett uses the Eye but Baxter Stockman grabs it and the first thing he does is create a Taj Mahal right in the middle of the city, to attract the Turtles. Then he makes Cement Man from the Arcade Version of Turtles in Time. Another Turtles in Time menace will be featured in the next episode.
Shredder shows up and prepares to pretty much end Stockman. The funny thing is that they were together, but we discover the limitation, which was hinted at earlier for the Eye of Zarnov. It has absolutely no effect whatsoever on gold.
So the Turtles dive at Shredder with the gold shields borrowed from the museum and Shredder, with the tracking device and the Eye, is in trouble, due to the fact that when the two combined, they were set to destroy each other. Yeah, I think that was a bit of the pull out of the old backside but we’ll let it slide.
Shredder disappears in a cloud of smoke, but he’ll be back. The villain always comes back.
Overall, this was a solid episode, give this one a 8.5/10 for some action. You can watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Episode 10 the Curse of the Evil Eye on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volume 2.
