It is time to reach right into the
really big comic book box of doom and pull out another random comic
book. This issue is the Fury of Firestorm Issue 22. In this issue,
Firestorm tells the origin story to Firehawk.
Fury of Firestorm Issue 22
Fury of Firestorm Issue 22 was released in April 1984 by DC Comics with the title of "The Secret Origin of Firestorm". Fury of Firestorm Issue 22 was written by Gerry Conway, Pencilled by Pat Broderick, Inked by Sal Trapani, Lettered by John Costanza, and Colored by Carl Cafford.
This comic is what
may would call a jumping on issue, where people can get brought up to
what the comic book is all about. In this case, we have the origins
of Firestorm, how Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein, the origin
Firestorm formed into the nuclear powered super hero.
It is a
fascinating issue and I did enjoy the twist of the class genius being
the utter jerk(at least so it seemed), other than the jock. The jerk
jock as they call it is a trope that is rather overplayed right in
comic books, so by turning it right on its ear, it did work out well
for this issue.
Again, not too
much from an action standpoint, but if you wanted to get a taste of
Firestorm right in those early years, what the character is all
about, you want to take a nice look at this issue. Fury of Firestorm
Issue 22 goes into what the character is. Plus the dynamic of two
different people in the same entity, that is why I found Firestorm to
be mildly interesting throughout his time.
Now don't get me
wrong, not my favorite character, but still not my least favorite,
given how interesting Firestorm has turned out to be throughout his
entire run. Fury of Firestorm Issue 22 is something that is worth a
peak, for those who might want to make their own judgments about the
character.
