Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Episode 8 It Came From Beneath the Sewers
First of all, it didn’t come beneath the sewers, it came from Dimension X. This is the second of four parts of the Eye of the Sarnoth Four Parter. Or is it Zarnov. Well anyway…moving right along.
Shredder lost the first fragment that he gained through devious means during the last episode. Naturally he blames Baxter Stockman for it, but we all know what is going on right about now. He reluctantly swallows his pride and asks Krang for help to find it. The Turtles and April have no luck in finding the fragment, or getting it in any ways, as two children have their hands on the fragment. They will sell it to them, but for a price. Got to love children.
Shredder naturally steals it, because that’s how he rolls. As it turns out, the fragment cannot only make things shrink, but also grow, in the case of a plant from Dimension X. A plant that Shredder hopes to put to some evil use to say the very least. Shredder kidnaps April as bait to lure the Turtles. Yeah, that happens quite a bit in this cartoon, get used to it.
The Ninja Turtles pelting Shredder and Stockman with pizzas kind of amused me, although it was an uncomfortable foreshadowing of the kind of cartoonish buffoonery that many critics of this show bash it for. The plant tries to destroy the Turtles. Mike’s plant decoy costume was both equal parts amusing and kind of creepy. Leonardo manages to get to the root of the problem, as Master Splinter advised him.
The day is saved, but Shredder still has the fragment.
I’ll be honest, I found this episode to be the weakest part of the four parter. Give it a 6/10. You can watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles It Came From Beneath the Sewers on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volume 2 DVD.
