Ultimate Spider-Man Episode 11 Venomous

The following review contains Ultimate Spider-Man Season 1 Episode 11 Spoilers for the episode Venomous.

Episode Synopsis

Batroc the Leaper is committing a heist but Spider-Man appears to stop him and go a step too far, giving him a mass beating. This gives J. Jonah Jameson to continue his fuel to continue to his tirades right on Spider-Man and Peter suspects that Harry may have reverted back right into Venom. Peter confronts Harry but Harry angrily denies being back into the creature.

To Oscorp and Harry tries to tell his father something but Norman is his usually dismissively towards his teenage son self, so Harry morphs into Venom. For the first time, Norman appears to be interested. Spider-Man arrives, right in time for Venom to knock Norman out the window. Spider-Man saves Norman from splatting on the concrete below and goes off.

As a result of Spider-Man not telling Fury exactly what he knows, Fury benches him from the Venom mission. Naturally Spider-Man will not take this laying down, so he manages to trap his team mates and go after Venom. Venom and Spider-Man fight, as Spider-Man learns that Norman has discovered that Harry is Venom. The rest of the team arrives, with White Tiger grabbing a sample of the Symbiote.

Spider-Man confides in his team that Harry is Venom and they cover for him with Fury. As Spider-Man whips up Anti-Venom, the team does battle with Venom. Harry is cured or so it seems, as Norman Osborn takes a sample of his son's blood to bring to Doctor Octavius for further use. Octavius naturally denies he knew that Harry was Venom.

Meanwhile the team plays a rousing game of squash the Spider-Man in a training session. With friends like these, who needs to enemies.

Episode Review

Venom again? As we continue for the story in Episode 8, we kind of get some decent moments but a lot of things that make me want to face palm. Which really sums up this series right as a whole.

Ock's obvious intended treachery on Osborn could not be more obvious if he had a neon sign flashing over his head. Yet for a master manipulator, Norman Osborn really is not too crafty right at all. Then again, they're trying.

Speaking of trying, there is an attempt at some kind of character development between Spider-Man and his team mates, but I feel like this is the third time this particular lesson has been learned and everything will be reset by the end of the next episode. We're in the ADD generation.

"Anti-Venom, why not an Uncle Venom?" My reaction to that quip by Nova was about the same from the team mate. Although points for those in this cartoon for not going to a cutaway thus pounding the joke into our heads rather further.

Not really much about this episode that I particularly enjoyed, other some some halfway decent action and fight scenes.
